How we collect, use, and protect your information when you use A Surah Like It.
Last Updated: July 27, 2026
A Surah Like It (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website (asurahlikeit.com).
1. Information We Collect
- Account Information: When you create an account using your email and password, we collect the display name and email address you provide.
- Writing Samples & Analyses: The text you submit for analysis, along with the generated scores and feedback. These are stored so you can view your history.
- Payment Information:If you make a donation, it is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full payment details—the processor handles them securely.
- Usage Data: Our hosting provider may automatically collect basic information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the writing analysis service and save your results.
- To calculate and display scores and community statistics.
- To process donations and manage your usage credits.
- To improve our site and respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Third-Party AI Processing
To analyze your writing and generate scores and feedback, the text you submit is sent to a third-party AI provider (xAI, which operates the Grok models). Please do not submit information you consider private or sensitive in the body of a submission. We do not control and are not responsible for the AI provider’s own handling of data; their processing is governed by their terms and privacy policy.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in these cases:
- With service providers (for example, web hosting, database storage, AI analysis, and payment processing) who help operate the site.
- If required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
Your writing samples are associated with your account but are not publicly visible unless you appear on the public scores page. The scores page displays the Title, Creator name, the account display name of the submitter, Score, and a short preview of AI feedback. Users who click into a scores entry can view the full AI feedback and original text. Choose a display name and creator name you are comfortable showing publicly—a pen name is fine.
5. Data Security
We use reasonable security measures to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords and not share your login details.
6. Your Rights
You may:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data and analyses.
- Request that we stop processing your data (subject to legal requirements).
To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Our service is intended for high school and college students (ages 13+). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us to delete it.
8. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies for essential functionality such as keeping you logged in. Our hosting provider may use additional cookies or similar technologies. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. We will post the new version with an updated “Last Updated” date.
