Terms of Service

1. What the Service Is

A Surah Like It is a writing-analysis tool. You submit a piece of writing and our system sends it to a third-party AI provider (xAI, which operates the Grok models), which returns a numeric score and written feedback grading the craft of the text. The Service also offers an optional feature that generates original AI-written passages, a public leaderboard, and the ability to rate submissions. The Service is intended for educational, literary, and discussion purposes.

2. Scores and Feedback Are AI-Generated Opinions

All scores and feedback are produced by an automated AI model. They are subjective, approximate, and may vary between runs even for the same text. They are provided “as is” for interest and discussion, and are not authoritative, academic, professional, theological, or factual judgments. You should not rely on them as a definitive assessment of any work. We do not guarantee the accuracy, consistency, or fitness of any score or feedback for any purpose.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.

4. Your Account

• You are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• Notify us promptly at the contact address below if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. Your Submissions and Content

You retain ownership of the writing you submit. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, display, and use it as needed to operate and provide the Service — including sending it to our third-party AI provider for analysis and displaying it publicly (for example, on the leaderboard, the public scores pages, or shared links) together with its title, listed creator, score, and feedback.

You represent that you have the right to submit any content you post, and that doing so does not infringe anyone else’s rights. Quoting or analyzing existing texts (including religious, literary, and published works) for commentary and criticism is a core, intended use of the Service.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Submit content that is unlawful, sexually exploitative of minors, a genuine threat of violence, or that harasses or targets an individual.
• Impersonate others, submit spam, or use offensive or misleading titles, creator names, or display names.
• Attempt to break, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or circumvent any security, rate limit, credit, or access control of the Service.
• Use the Service to generate content for unlawful purposes.

Critical, comparative, and academic discussion of religious and literary texts is expressly permitted — that is what the Service is for. These rules target abuse and illegal content, not viewpoint.

7. Moderation and Enforcement

We may, at our discretion and without prior notice, hide or remove content, and suspend or ban accounts that we reasonably believe violate these Terms. We may also report unlawful content to the appropriate authorities. Removal of content does not entitle you to a refund of any credits or donations.

8. Credits and Donations

• Analyses require credits. New accounts receive a limited number of free credits; additional credits are granted through donations.
• Payments are processed securely by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full payment details.
• Donations and credits are generally non-refundable, except where required by law. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged.
• We may change credit amounts, pricing, or the availability of the donation feature at any time.

9. Our Intellectual Property

The Service itself — including its name, branding, design, text, and software — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable law. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding without permission. This does not affect your ownership of your own submissions as described in Section 5.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that scores and feedback will be accurate or reliable.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or ten U.S. dollars.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the operator’s principal place of business, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be handled by the courts located there.
